AIIMS: Family donates retd prof’s body to AIIMS | Bhubaneswar News

Kendrapada: The body of a retired professor was donated to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, after his death on Sunday. The deceased Prafulla Das (66) was from Badambila village in Kendrapada district’s Aul block. He is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.
He was suffering from different ailments for the last few months and wanted his body to be donated for medical research.“My father retired six years back from the Regional College of Management, Bhubaneswar. He was also working in University Of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun. As per his wish, we donated the body for the benefit of medical students and handed it over to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar,” said Swetapadma, Prafulla’s daughter.
“We fulfilled our father’s wish by donating his body to the hospital so that people get inspiration to pledge their bodies after death,” said Biswadeepak, his son.
“There is no age limit to be an anatomical donor. It is the donation of your remains, not for transplant but for scientific research and medical education,” said Dr Biswaprakash Kanungo, a physician of Kendrapada.
