Agniveer recruitment rally sees turnout of 5k candidates | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: The Agniveer recruitment rally at Danapur Cantonment concluded successfully on Friday, drawing thousands of eager aspirants aiming to join the Indian Army. The event, which lasted for eight days, saw enthusiastic participation from both men and women candidates hailing from seven districts of Bihar.
Held from Dec 20 onward, the rally was part of the Agnipath recruitment scheme, designed to enlist young, dynamic people for a four-year tenure in the armed forces. According to sources from the Danapur zonal recruitment office (ZRO), this year’s rally saw a moderate turnout with aspirants from Bihar and neighbouring regions attending. “We had candidates coming from various districts and the overall participation was encouraging,” said an official from the ZRO.
To ensure smooth proceedings, heightened security measures were put in place around the Danapur Cantonment. “We had a heavy contingent of security personnel, including local police and paramilitary forces, ensuring the safety of all participants,” said a ZRO source. Barricades, surveillance cameras and strict monitoring were employed to maintain order, especially given the large crowd and the high level of enthusiasm surrounding the recruitment drive.
The rally included a series of tests, such as physical fitness assessments, medical screenings and document verification, all conducted as per the rigorous standards of the Indian Army. The inclusion of women candidates marked a major step forward under the Agnipath scheme, which aims to empower women to serve in diverse roles within the armed forces. “It is a proud moment to see so many women candidates participating alongside their male counterparts,” said a recruitment official.
A total of 5,000 shortlisted candidates turned up for the rally with many hoping to secure a place in the prestigious Indian armed forces.
