After Khar Pali Rd, now Pali Mala Road partly dug up 7 mths after it was concretised

Mumbai: After local residents expressed their outrage against the recent digging of a cement concrete Khar Pali Road which was concretised about three months ago, now a BMC contractor has dug up a portion of the Pali Mala Road outside Pali Market in Bandra West. The Pali Mala Road was concretised about seven months ago too.
BMC officials said concretisation of the “Off Pali Market lane” is being carried out in Phase 2 of the concretisation works. As part of this work, a 150mm diameter water main pipeline has been laid by the hydraulic engineering construction department under the Off Pali Market Lane. As there is a requirement for a cross-connection for the newly laid pipeline though, the hydraulic engineering construction department has dug a 1m-by-1m pit on Pali Mala Road. The work is expected to be completed within two days. BMC’s H-West ward officials said it will be reinstated thereafter. Madhu Poplai, secretary of the Pali Hill Residents Association, said, “They have dug up cement concrete roads at several places. Some places have been dug up due to some faults in the utilities or sewage or water lines and in some cases, the upper coating of the concrete roads has come apart. Sometimes, it is the quality of the concrete laid and, in some instances, it is due to the short-circuiting of the curing or hastening of the curing process, for the concrete roads. Public has lost its patience. In the case of Pali Hill, there is seepage from the sewage lines.” — Sanjeev Devasia
