Adopt modern technology for sustainable farming: Governor

Berhampur: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Wednesday urged farmers to embrace modern technology and climate-resilient agricultural practices to ensure sustainability and profitability in farming.
Speaking at Akshaya Tritiya celebrations at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Golanthara, the governor underlined the critical role of innovation and training in transforming the agricultural landscape. “There is a KVK in the area. Farmers need to take advantage of its innovative and latest technology to increase productivity and enhance their income from farming,” said Kambhampati.
To mark the beginning of the kharif season, the governor participated in ‘bhumi pujan’ and ‘akhi muthi anukula’ (sowing of seeds) ceremony. Commerce, transport, steel and mines minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena ploughed the field, while Ganjam collector Dibya Jyoti Parida and senior district officials were also present.
The governor also felicitated two local farmers for adopting progressive agricultural practices.
Kambhampati also toured various demonstration units at the KVK, showcasing innovations such as the integrated farming system, pisciculture, drip irrigation, honey-bee rearing, natural farming and solar-powered agricultural equipment.
Sujit Kumar Nath, senior agricultural scientist and in-charge of the KVK, briefed the governor on the utility and impact of these initiatives on rural livelihoods.
As part of his visit to Ganjam, the governor reviewed the implementation of various govt schemes and conducted field visits to assess on-ground progress.
