Kendrapada: A 54-year-old gana sikshyak (ad hoc teacher) allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Jagatsinghpur district on Feb 25. The deceased, Kalpana Panda, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her home. The incident came to light on Sunday when the victim’s husband, Bijay Kumar Panda, filed an FIR at Jagatsinghpur police station, alleging that his wife took the extreme step due to mental harassment by school authorities.
“We have recovered a suicide note in which the deceased has held the headmistress responsible for her death,” said Pravas Chandra Sahu, inspector in-charge (IIC), Jagatsinghpur police station.
