Berhampur: Forest officials on Monday recovered the carcass of an adult male blackbuck, an endangered species, near Jagatipadia in Bhetanai under Ganjam district’s Aska forest range.
The 10-year-old blackbuck is suspected to have succumbed to injuries after the animal got entangled in the fencing put up to protect horticulture plants. “The exact cause of blackbuck’s death would be known only after getting a post-mortem report,” said Pramod Kumar Panda, range officer, Aska.Amulya Upadhaya, president, Ganjam district blackbuck protection committee alleged that six to seven blackbucks have been injured after getting entangled in the fence. tnn
