PM launches scheme for tribals

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan that will cover 10,85,661 tribal families living in 7,667 villages in 232 blocks across 27 districts of Odisha.
According to the cabinet decision, the campaign will include 25 programmes implemented by 17 ministries or departments. The objectives include foundational development, socio-economic empowerment, quality education for all and promoting healthy living.
The campaign, with a budget aof Rs 79,156 crore, aims to enhance the social and economic development of over 5 crore tribal people living in 63,000 villages across 30 states and UTs across the nation, read an official statement. It said that the central govt will bear Rs 56,333 crore of the total expenses, while the states will contribute Rs 22,823 crore.

Lucknow University vice-chancellor Alok Kumar Rai celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 74th birthday at an anganwadi centre in Sonwa village. The event launched the ‘Ujjwal Bachpan, Unnat Gram’ campaign aimed at holistic village development. Activities featured a cake-cutting ceremony, sharing meals with children, distributing educational materials and toys, and unveiling a new book and poster for the campaign.
