Bhubaneswar: With registration for Subhadra Yojana going on in full swing, most households in the city are finding it tough to manage chores at home with cooks and helps taking frequent and long leaves to register for the scheme.
The govt scheme mandates in-person registration and linking of Aadhaar numbers with mobile numbers at Jana Seva Kendras.

The scheme promises financial aid of Rs 50,000 to eligible women over a period of five years with two instalments of Rs 5,000 each every year being transferred to their bank accounts.
“This is the third time in a month that my house help has asked for leave. It has become impossible for me to manage household work while handling office work and examination of children. Even my husband is out of station. As she wants to take leave to enroll for the Subhadra scheme, I cannot refuse her,” said Mousumi Mohanty, an IT professional.
A large number of intended beneficiaries in the city, several of whom have migrated to cities in search of work, have their village addresses in their Aadhaar cards.
For in-person registration they need to go to their villages. The rush at Jana Seva Kendras has led to delays with registration sometimes taking several days, sources said.
“We understand this is important for their financial well-being but it is creating chaos in our life,” said Sagarika Biswal, who works in a private hospital.
Apart from domestic helps and cooks, many housekeeping staff in residential colonies, nannies and ayahs, drivers and security guards are going on leave to ensure registration for Subhadra scheme.
Meanwhile, Odisha govt sources said in just 10 days, over 45 lakh women from across Odisha registered through the online portal for the scheme.
“The portal’s user-friendly interface and real-time support features ensured a hassle-free experience, allowing beneficiaries to register with ease,” read an official statement.
“Beneficiaries are in a rush as they fear that they might miss out on getting the benefit if they do not register early and are making a beeline in front of Jan Seva Kendras,” said P Mohan of a Jan Seva Kendra in Sastri Nagar.
