Capital Aiims Handling Over 500 Stroke Patients Every Month: Doc | Bhubaneswar News


Bhubaneswar: The neurology department at AIIMS Bhubaneswar manages over 500 stroke patients each month, according to Dr Ashutosh Biswas, executive director of the national institute. In a statement released on Wednesday, Dr Biswas highlighted the department’s comprehensive care services, which include intravenous thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy, stroke neurosurgery, neurocritical care, and advanced neuro-rehabilitation.
A recent study revelaed that stroke incidence in the state is higher than the national average, with nearly one in seven residents at risk.Recently, AIIMS Bhubaneswar hosted the Indian Association of Neurology (IAN) Stroke Subsection Midterm Conference. Dr Sanjeev Kumar Bhoi, head of the neurology department, and other experts addressed the rising incidence of stroke in the state.
The experts noted that stroke has become an alarming health concern with approximately 2,000 cases reported daily nationwide.
