Bhubaneswar: After attending a review meeting on Wednesday, Prithiviraj Harichandan announced that work on the Ekamra project will resume on Thursday.
At the meeting, sources said detailed discussions were held on acquiring land with maximum compensation for landowners, the removal of encroachments, the protection of old monasteries, temples, and heritage structures, and strict adherence to Archaeological Survey of India guidelines for construction work.
Also, directives were issued to complete pending tasks within the project area by agencies like WATCO, TPCODL and others, as soon as possible.
Deputy chief minister Pravati Parida, revenue and disaster management minister Suresh Pujari, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, Bhubaneswar-Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, and senior officers from various departments attended the review meeting.
Former chief minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for the Ekamra development project in June 2023.

The Railways plan to build four new bridges over the Birupa, Mahanadi, Kathajodi, and Kuakhai rivers in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. This project is part of a strategic 22-km third line expansion between Bhadrak and Vizianagaram on the Howrah-Chennai mainline to reduce congestion and improve connectivity.
