‘100 murdered in Hinjili since 2000’

Berhampur: Chief minister Mohan Majhi, responding to BJP MLA Pradyumna Nayak in the state assembly on Monday, said that 100 murders have been reported in the Hinjili assembly constituency of Ganjam district in the last 24 years. Former chief minister Naveen Patnaik has been elected from the constituency six times since 2000.
Majhi, who also holds the home portfolio, said that 328 people allegedly involved in these murders had been arrested and forwarded to the court.Of the 100 murder cases, the accused in 9 cases have been convicted, while the accused in 22 cases have been acquitted. “The remaining 69 cases are currently under trial,” added Majhi.
