Enrolment: Enrolment of Students in Private Schools in Odisha | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Enrolment of students in private schools of Odisha has increased marginally in the last couple of years but yet to reach pre-Covid levels, school and mass education minister Nitynananda Gond told the assembly on Friday.
Answering the question of BJD MLA Dhruba Charan Sahu about how many private schools are operating in the state and what is the number of students in these schools, Gond said, there are 7,128 private schools.
In 2020-21, the number of students in private schools was 21% of the total number of students, which has dropped to 19% in 2021-22.
The year after (2023-24), the percentage of students increased by one per cent to 20% of the total students in the state.
“There are various reasons for drop in students in private schools post-Covd, including inability of parents to pay the fees in private schools, and improved infrastructure of govt schools,” said Ramachandra Panda, a retired headmaster of a govt high school.
