Koraput: Central University of Odisha (CUO) celebrated its 16th Foundation Day at its Sunabeda campus on Thursday. In his address, vice-chancellor Chakradhar Tripathy, outlined the varsity’s ambitious plan, including establishment of tribal museum and tribal library to preserve and promote tribal culture.
The vice-chancellor revealed the university’s commitment to supporting the tribal youth by creating employment opportunities in eco-tourism.The university will employ 10 tribal youth and provide them training in eco-tourism, he said.
Besides, Central University of Odisha will soon launch the Odia Sakhyarata Abhiyaan, a campaign dedicated to promoting Odia literature.
This initiative will include translation of works by eminent Odia writers like Fakir Mohan Senapati, Gopabandhu Das, Bhima Bhoi, and Madhusudan Das.
The university has already forged an alliance with GM University, Sambalpur, to translate the literary works of Gangadhar Meher from Odia to Hindi.

Traffic between the hill station Saputara, Nashik, and Kaprada to Nashik has come to a standstill due to a roadblock by local tribal groups demanding tribal rights. This has severely inconvenienced travelers, with police assisting stranded passengers. The police are working to navigate through smaller roads, though protesters are blocking these routes as well.
