Bhubaneswar: A man was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in the Mukund Prasad area in Khurda town on Sunday morning. In the aftermath of the murder, as many as 20 vehicles have were damaged by angry residents, said police officials
Police imposed Section 163 of BNSS (formerly Section 144 of CrPC) in a few areas of the town to contain the angry mob.Director general of police YB Khurania, along with senior officers, rushed to Khurda in the evening to assess the law and order situation, while Khurda collector Chanchal Rana appealed to the public to maintain peace.
The deceased was identified as Shaikh Sajid. Preliminary investigations suggest the motive may be related to past enmity. However, the police have not yet identified any of the assailants. “We have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits. The body has been sent for post-mortem. There are multiple injuries on the body, and it appears sharp weapons were used. Normalcy is gradually returning to the area,” said Sanjay Koushal, IG of central range.
