SCB Medical College And Hospital: SCB Medical College and Hospital to Rusticate Doctor Accused of Rape | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Authorities of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, on Friday decided to rusticate a resident doctor for allegedly raping two patients on Aug 11. The hospital will issue an official order soon.
Dr Sudhansu S Mishra, medical superintendent, who is also in-charge principal, convened a council meeting on Friday to discuss the recommendation of director of medical education and training (DMET), Santosh Kumar Mishra, to rusticate the accused doctor.
“Senior faculty members gave their consent for the rustication order. We will issue a notification regarding this very soon,” said Mishra. He had recommended the medical college and hospital to rusticate the accused doctor in the cardiology department, Dilbag Singh Thakur, who was arrested on Aug 13.
The DMET made the recommendation on Wednesday on the basis of a commitee’s report on the incident. The three-member committee, including DMET and SCB principal, probed the matter before submitting the report to the state govt.
“After finding Thakur’s involvement, I wrote a letter to the principal of the medical college with a recommendation to rusticate him,” said the DMET.
