Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths arrested forest range officer Bibhudananda Mishra for possessing assets 214 per cent more than the known sources of income.
The assets include one multi-storey building, one high value flat in Bhubaneswar, two flast in Hyderabad, eight plots in Bhubaneswar and Dhenkanal, a farm house worth Rs 2.32 crore, Rs 1 crore of bank deposit, Rs 5.15 lakh cash, two cars and 557 grams of gold ornaments.
The forest department also instituted a case against Mishra under wildlife (protection) Act, 1972 for caging four peacocks in his farmhouse.

Chhattisgarh forest department releases rescued monitor lizards into wild
The Chhattisgarh Forest Department released four intelligent monitor lizards into the wild after they were rescued by Saraswati Nagar police. This marked the first attempt in the state’s history to release seized wildlife back into their natural habitat. The lizards had been under treatment and were released following court permission.
