Patna: A 48-year-old sub-inspector was found dead late Friday night under suspicious conditions in his room at the government quarter on the Barbigha police station premises in Sheikhpura district. The deceased, Balmukund Rai, a 2009-batch sub-inspector, was a resident of Amarpur village under Nath Nagar police station area in Bhagalpur district.
According to police, Rai had been transferred from Mison police station to Jairampur police station in Barbigha block the same day.Due to a lack of accommodation at his new posting, he was staying with Barbigha SHO Vaibhav Kumar. Rai was the elder of his two brothers and is survived by his two sons and wife.
Sheikhpura SP Baliram Kumar Choudhary, Barbigha SDPO Arvind Kumar Sinha and other senior officers visited the spot after receiving the information. The police have handed over the body to the family after the postmortem.
“Rai appears to have died due to a heart attack. Saliva was coming out of his mouth, not froth. The claim that the body had turned blue is incorrect. No signs of poisoning were found on the bodysaid the SP.
