Man arrested for raping neighbour in Purnia | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: A 32-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping his neighbour after drugging her at his house in Purnia district. The accused, identified as Birbal Kumar Das, called the woman to his house on the pretext of going to the hospital for the delivery of his child, police said.
According to the police, the 24-year-old married woman lives around 200-300 metres from the accused person’s residence.They added Das is also married, and his wife was at her maternal home at the time of the incident.
Local police station in-charge, Brajesh Kumar, said, “Both the families were acquainted with each other. The accused’s wife is pregnant and was at her mother’s place. The incident occurred on Wednesday at noon, but the complaint was filed late evening. Das had fled from his house after the incident. He was picked up from the Khajanchi Haat police station area in the district.”
In the complaint, the woman alleged that Das had called her and talked about his wife being admitted to the Govt Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Purnia, for their child’s delivery. He asked the woman to come along with him to the hospital, and when the woman reached his house, he engaged her in conversation and gave her a drugged drink, states the complaint.
