Bankipore school to get a facelift by end of this month

Patna: Patna district magistrate (DM) Chandrashekhar Singh on Thursday announced that the renovation work at Bankipore Girls Senior Secondary School would be completed by the end of August.
“The building of this historical and renowned school was in dilapidated condition and hence the renovation work was started after the funds were sanctioned. There are around 1,500 girls studying from classes 9 to 12 and their feedback was taken regarding the work,” Singh said during his inspection of the ongoing repair and development work at the school.
Singh said two agencies have been involved in the renovation with an estimated cost of around Rs 4.50 crore.“The building construction department, using the District Mineral Foundation fund, has developed the science block of the school and a major portion of this work is complete. Bihar State Educational Infrastructure Development Corporation (BSEIDC) Limited has been tasked with renovating the main structure of the school, including whitewashing, constructing the boundary wall and main gate, developing the garden and footpath and installing two drinking water platforms as well as toilet construction and repairs,” he said. Singh added that BSEIDC is also handling the supply of furniture, electrification and other related works, which are nearing completion.
The DM expressed satisfaction with the progress of the renovation. “A detailed plan is being developed for the construction of a science park and additional classrooms along with a green room. There are also plans to renovate teachers’ quarters and develop the campus,” the DM added.
