Fraudster: Fraudster Satyajit Mangovind Samal Granted 2-Day Police Remand |
Bhubaneswar: A court on Tuesday granted two-day police remand of Satyajit Mangovind Samal, who married multiple women and duped them of lakhs of rupees. Police claimed to have found a diary of Samal that contains the profiles of several women.
Police urged the court to grant 10-day remand but the court granted two days. Police are expected to extract more information about Samal’s mode of operations and how he managed to dupe women promising to marry them.
On the day, he was arrested, police knew that he married two women (outside Odisha) and promised to marry two others in the state. The complaints of two Odisha women led to his arrest.
Police laid a trap involving one of their woman inspector’s to lure him from Dubai to Bhubaneswar. This trick worked. Police said Samal was in contact with 49 other women through chats.
He obtained their phone numbers and addresses from matrimonial sites. During further interrogation, it will be ascertained how far he had progressed in case of 49 women he was in touch with, said a police officer.
