Police exam: EOU warns against cybercriminals | Patna News – Times of India

Police exam: EOU asks people to stay vigilant against cybercriminals

Patna: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar police on Monday issued an advisory, asking people to remain vigilant against the cybercriminals and anti-social elements, who are trying to make malicious attempts to cheat in the name of providing question papers and answer sheets before examinations. The advisory came ahead of the constable recruitment exam, which will be conducted by the Central Constable Recruitment Board (CCRB) between August 7 and August 28.
DIG, Manavjit Singh Dhillon, said the police are getting information that some candidates are being contacted by gangs involved in paper leaks and the cybercriminals, saying that they will get the question paper and answer key before the exam. “They are trying to siphon of money from the candidates in lieu of providing the question paper and answers,” he said.
“The cybercriminals and anti-social elements are spreading rumours and misinformation regarding the written examination of constable recruitment by making phone calls or through various social media platforms, to mint money. By misusing digital mediums, the gangs are trying to create confusion related to the examination among the candidates,” Dhillon said.
Raids and special contemporary operations are being conducted on a large scale by special teams in various districts to keep an eye on the fraudsters.
In the advisory, the EOU asked people to remain vigilant against cyberfrauds and examination mafias and immediately inform the police. “If any person or candidate receives call or such message on social media and e-mail related to providing question paper and answer key of constable recruitment examination in exchange of money, then he or she should immediately inform the nearest police station or cyber police station,” said the advisory.
It further states, “If you receive any such message related to the examination, please do not forward it to any other person or group. If it comes to light that any question paper and answer key has been made viral on the social media, then immediately inform about the person posting it and the URL related to the social media to the police station/cyber police station concerned so that its veracity can be checked immediately. This will help police to take immediate action.”
