Patna: Eight more people were killed in separate lightning strikes in four districts in the state in the last 24 hours, according to a communique from the chief minister’s office on Friday.
Chief minister Nitish Kumar expressed grief over the deaths and instructed officials concerned to ensure immediate payment of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased.Three deaths were reported each in Patna and Aurangabad districts, and one each in Nawada and Saran.
On Thursday, 12 deaths were reported due to lightning strikes in Gaya, Jehanabad, Rohtas and Nalanda districts.
The CM appealed to the people to remain alert during inclement weather and follow the disaster management department’s guidelines to protect themselves from lightning. tnn
