The district magistrate asked the civil surgeon to ensure that adequate number of beds are reserved in big government and private hospitals during the mela period.
He asked Singh to organize health camps like previous year, with availability of 37 types of life-saving medicines, including for snakebite, adequate number of ambulances, stretchers, paramedical staff and doctors.
Thiyagarajan said contact number of the ambulance drivers will be displayed on flex boards at main intersections of the city and at temporary control rooms in the mela area, besides the district control room. Besides, the district magistrate directed deputy development commissioner (DDC) Vinod Duhan to hold a meeting with the representatives of all monasteries, hotels and guest houses in Gaya and Bodh Gaya to determine the rates for accommodation of the pilgrims and reserve rooms during the mela period.
Also, adequate number of wheelchairs would be made available for the first time to ensure that elderly or disabled pilgrims do not face any difficulty to perform ‘pinddaan’ rituals for their departed ancestors.
