Land Pattas: 221 Hirakud damoustee families get land pattas | Bhubaneswar News
Sambalpur: A total of 221 families displaced by Hirakud dam project received land pattas in Rengali block of Sambalpur district on Thursday. Revenue minister Suresh Pujari distributed land pattas of 10 decimals each to people of Kurla and Thunti Katarbaga villages at Kurla village of Rengali block. The oustees, who have not got land pattas will get it from the state govt in different phases.
The minister, in his address, recollected how members of a family went missing and got separated in the rush to save their lives when Hirakud dam released the first floodwater.“Then the govt had arranged hundreds of trucks for people to leave the area. These trucks shifted people to separate places in Ambabhona, Lakhanpur, Sareipali village in Chhattisgarh. As there were no phones, they got separated,” he said.
He said, “A new era has started in the governance of Mohan Majhi. As per the govt’s decision, the third or fourth generation of people displaced will get 10 decimals of land. I believe all the remaining displaced people will get land pattas in the coming five years.”
He also assured people below the poverty line with land of four decimals. “Any poor person not having land in villages or cities will get pattas for four decimal of land within one year. The tribal people residing in forests without patta will get it. There will be no poor in the state without a house and land ownership.”
The patta distribution will start in Bargarh district soon, he said.
Speaking about his roots and dedication for his native place, he said, “I will come to my area every weekend. I will attend various programmes, including land patta distribution. The survey of landless people is underway.”
