Patna: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Thursday started the collection of toll tax (road charges) from motorists travelling through a section of the six-lane Patna Ring Road from Kanhauli to Ramnagar, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 2. The toll plaza near Mamrezpur village collected nearly Rs 6 lakh from 8,000 vehicles on the first day.
According to NHAI officials, to facilitate the payment process, 12 counters with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology have been set up to allow toll payments directly from prepaid accounts. Commuters can now pay online using FASTag or in cash at the counters. The toll rates vary depending on the type of vehicle and the number of trips, with discounts offered for frequent travellers.
