CCTVs: Network of 11k CCTVs in Odisha Police Stations |

Bhubaneswar: A network of 11,907 CCTV cameras was inaugurated on Thursday across 593 police stations in all 30 districts of Odisha.
The comprehensive surveillance network will monitor 38 superintendent of police (SP) and deputy commissioner of police (DCP) offices through a video management system and will be centrally overseen from the office of the director general of police (DGP) through an advanced central management system.
“The initiative is in response to a directive issued by the Supreme Court in December 2020 and is designed to enhance transparency and accountability, and safeguard human rights within the state’s criminal justice system,” an official statement reads.
State-of-the-art cameras equipped with AI will cover the interior of the police station, including the SP’s cabin, and span across the compound and perimeter.
The project aims to create an impartial record of activities, fostering transparency and accountability.
The advanced camera systems will operate 24×7, recording all activities and interactions at the SP offices.
