Patna: A 35-year-old man, having criminal background, died after he was allegedly thrashed by nine people in Jaipur Dhanuki locality under Agamkuan police station area on Thursday morning, police said. The deceased has been identified as Rajiv Kumar, son of Nanki Mahato, the police added. The reason behind killing is not known.
Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Patna City, Sarath R S, said police received an information that a man died under mysterious circumstances in the early morning.“The police team reached the spot for investigation and sent the body to the NMCH for postmortem. The family members of the deceased alleged that Rajiv was brutally thrashed by about night people in the wee hours after which they dropped him at his home around 4.30am,” he said.
“After some time, the youth succumbed to his injuries. The police, forensic team and dog squad are investigating the case and collected the evidences. The reason for the dispute is yet to be ascertained,” the SDPO said.
Rajiv’s mother Gauri Devi lodged a complaint against four named accused and five unidentified people for killing his son.
Based on the FIR, the police started conducting raids for the arrest of the accusing and are also examining the CCTV footage of the nearby areas.
