Farmer found dead with stab marks | Patna News – Times of India


Patna: A 45-year-old farmer was found dead with multiple stab injuries at his field in Kharbhaiya village under Shahjahanpur police station in Patna district on Wednesday morning. The victim was identified as Bhagwan Gop, a resident of Nizamatpur village in Dhanarua area.
Upon receiving information from locals, a police team reached the spot around 7am and found Gop lying in a pool of blood.He was pronounced dead at the scene. Fatuha sub-divisional police officer II Pankaj Kumar said that a forensic team collected the blood samples as well as recovered a knife from the spot. He added that a dog squad had been deployed to fast-track the investigation.
“According to family members of the victim, Gop stayed at his farm on Tuesday night to irrigate and plough his field. Prima facie, it appears that the assailants sneaked into his farm late at night and stabbed him to death while he was asleep on his cot. The body has been sent for post-mortem,” Kumar said, adding that a case has been registered and efforts are underway to arrest the culprits.
According to police, family members are also being interrogated, and the CCTV cameras installed around the area are being scanned.
