White Tiger Cub: White tiger cub born in Nandankanan zoo | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Mousumi, the majestic white tigress of Nandankanan Zoological Park, gave birth to a cub at 8:51 pm on Monday.
Although the litter consisted of three cubs, the others were tragically stillborn, stated zoo authorities.
“They said the surviving cub remains under the nurturing care of its mother and has not been separated from her embrace. Both the mother and her precious offspring are under constant CCTV surveillance to ensure their well-being,” officials said.
The gender of the cub can only be ascertained following a thorough physical examination in the near future, added the zoo authorities. Mousumi, the white tigress, was born at Nandankanan in 2016, to tiger Manish and tigress Sneha. Despite having reached the age of eight, all her previous mating attempts had been unsuccessful in producing viable offspring. However, this time, she successfully mated with tiger Rajesh, resulting in the birth of the cub. The zoo authorities said this is her first successful litter and a momentous occasion for the Nandankanan Zoo. Currently, Nandankanan has 27 tigers, including 17 normal coloured, seven white tigers and three melanistic tigers.
