THANE: A 19-year-old man from Manpada, who ventured into the waters of the popular Upwan lake situated at the foothills of Yeour, accompanied by friends, tragically lost his life due to drowning on Tuesday evening, as reported by officials.
Yasin Tadvi, the official in charge of the Thane regional disaster management cell, disclosed that the deceased individual has been identified as Karan Singh, a resident of Manpada.
“The young man had entered the lake along with his friends, but within a short span of time, he began to experience dizziness and attempted to exit the water. However, he found himself unable to do so and subsequently started to drown.
His panicked friends raised an alarm that drew the attention of nearby rescuers who managed to retrieve him from the water and promptly shifted him to a government hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” the officials stated.
The Vartak Nagar police, who are currently investigating the incident, are in the process of registering a case of accidental death.
