MUMBAI: The state’s cabinet sub-committee on industry cleared 7 mega and ultra mega projects worth Rs 81,137 crores on Tuesday. The projects, located in Vidarbha, Marathwada and Konkan are expected to generate 20,000 jobs. They include plants for industries including semiconductor chips, lithium batteries, electric vehicles and green energy.
The projects include a Rs 27,200 crore project by JSW Green Mobility Ltd in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles.The project is expected to generate 5,200 jobs. The project is expected to produce 5 lakh electric passenger vehicles and one lakh commercial vehicles.
Also, a Rs 25,000 crore JSW Energy PSP project in Nagpur is expected to generate 5,000 job opportunities. The investment is for a lithium-ion battery plant.
The sub-committee also cleared a Rs 1500 crore fruit pulp and juice extraction project by Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverage, which will be based in Ratnagiri.
The state’s first semiconductor manufacturing plant by RRP Electronics company has also got the go-ahead at Taloja in Panvel. It will generate an investment of Rs 12,000 crores in the first phase, matched by a similar investment in the second phase. The project is expected to generate 4,000 jobs.
The subcommittee cleared the Rs 13,647 crore AWAADA Electro Ltd projects in Nagpur and Panvel with investments for solar PVC modules and electrolyser plants. It is expected to generate 8,000 jobs.
The cabinet sub-committee also cleared a Rs 1,785 crore project by Pernod Ricard India Ltd in Nagpur for investment in the production and maturation of malt spirit. This is expected to generate 800 jobs.
