Koraput: In a boost to establishment of Rayagada railway division under East Coast Railway (ECoR), the Union Budget has allocated Rs 70 crore for the project. On Friday, railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the project design is in its final stage and construction will commence soon.
“At least Rs 70 crore has been allocated for the establishment of Rayagada railway division.The detailed project report is in its final stage, and work will commence soon,” he said.
Official sources said the new division will span 125.78 acres across six locations near the Rayagada railway station along NH-326.
The DRM office will be spread over 14.30 acres, featuring water bodies, a walking track and a parking area for 260 four-wheelers, including a driver’s rest room, said a senior railway official, requesting anonymity.

Railway Minister Vaishnaw highlighted progress and ongoing discussions with the state government on cost-sharing and land acquisition to expedite projects.
