Bhubaneswar: Leader of opposition and former chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday wrote to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee requesting her to ensure smooth supply of potatoes to Odisha. BJP said Naveen’s statements on the short supply of potatoes are incorrect. Naveen said that potatoes are an essential item. “Due to the rains, there has been a short supply of potatoes in Odisha market resulting in an artificial price hike adding to the sufferings of the common people,” he said.Citing media reports, Naveen further said that long queues of about 50 trucks loaded with potatoes are waiting at the Bengal- Odisha border. On earlier similar occasions, your noble gesture has earned the love and affection of our people, he said.
