IMD: IMD forecasts heavy rain in 8 districts from Friday | Bhubaneswar News



Bhubaneswar: Some parts of the state could receive heavy rain and thundershowers from Friday under the influence of a probable low pressure area and depression forming in the Bay of Bengal around Wednesday.
“IMD is keeping a close watch on the low-pressure area, which may intensify into a depression. Whether it will further intensify cannot be ascertained yet.The system will surely bring some pre-monsoon showers to the state,” said a senior officer of IMD.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall (70 mm to 200 mm) is likely at isolated places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada and heavy rainfall (70 mm to 110 mm) over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds with speed reaching 40-50 kmph are likely over the districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack from Friday. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching 30-40 kmph are likely to continue over the districts of Khurda, Nayagarh, Puri, Ganjam and Gajapati till Saturday, the IMD bulletin said.
The IMD also predicted hot and humid weather is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of some districts from Tusday to Thursday.
