THANE: A 23-year-old woman from Thane city, has been booked by the police for allegedly traveling to Pakistan using a fake passport and visa obtained through forged documents.
The woman, identified as Nagma Noor Maksood Ali alias Sanam Khan, and an unidentified man who facilitated the fake documents, are both facing prosecution. The offense is reported to have occurred between May 2023 and July 2024.
According to an official from the Vartak Nagar police station, the accused woman altered her identity and secured critical identification documents.She acquired an Aadhaar card, PAN card, and her daughter’s birth certificate from a center in Lokmanya Nagar. These falsified documents were then attached to her passport application.
“On the basis of these documents, she obtained a passport and visa for Pakistan and traveled to the neighboring country,” the official said.
Authorities have registered a case against the duo under the Indian Passports Act and other relevant laws. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
