Heavy rains lash Mumbai, SoBo records 326 mm in 3 days | Mumbai News – Times of India


MUMBAI: Heavy rains continued to lash Mumbai between July 19-20. Rainfall data logged over three days (July 17-20) indicates that south Mumbai has received 326 mm of rain in a 72-hour span.
In the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Saturday, July 20, rainfall recorded by the IMD Colaba observatory was 111 mm, while the IMD Santacruz observatory recorded 93 mm of rainfall.
Meanwhile, intense rain activity was reported on the morning of June 20.As per the IMD’s automatic weather stations, rainfall recorded in several parts of Mumbai was over 100 mm.
For instance, Dindoshi recorded 119.8 mm of rain, Veena Nagar in Mulund- 118.6 mm, Magathane- 108.8 mm, Malad – 103.4 mm, and Malwani- 102.2 mm.
Some other localities also reported intense rains like Ghatkopar – 95 mm, Sewri – 93.2 mm, Mankhurd- 91.4 mm, Sion, Pratiksha Nagar – 89.6 mm, and Worli- 88.4 mm.
Water stocks in the lakes supplying Mumbai’s needs as of July 20 morning were 5.92 lakh million litres or 41%. On the same day last year, the water stocks were 5.73 lakh million litres or 40%.
