Patna/Hazaribag/Jamshedpur:The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Tuesday claimed a major breakthrough in the NEET-UG probe with the arrest of two persons, including a civil engineer in Patna, who tampered with the sealed question papers kept in sealed boxes in Hazaribag NTA centre.
Pankaj Kumar alias Aditya, a Bokaro resident, who passed civil engineering from NIT-Jamshedpur in 2017 is the technical hand in the gang, sources said.
“He stole the sealed question paper box from an aluminium trunk sent to Hazaribag by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after tampering with it,” a source said.
His arrest came after a guest house owner Rajkumar Singh was arrested from Hazaribag. Singh purportedly assisted Aditya in stealing the paper and passing them to exam mafias.
Sources told TOI that their arrests are crucial in determining the origin of the conspiracy in leaking question papers and the scale of the nationwide network. The probe agency earlier arrested Hazaribag-based Oasis School principal (now sacked) Ehsanul Haque and vice-principal (also sacked) Md Imtiaz Alam apart from Hazaribag journalist Jamaluddin.
