Man booked after electrocution of four dogs in Saran | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Saran police have booked a resident of Harpur village after four street dogs were electrocuted near his home earlier this month.
A complaint in this regard was lodged by one Sushil Kumar Singh, a member of animal rights organisation, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), against his neighbour Amren Singh at Ekma police of Saran district.
In his complaint to the police, Sushil accused his neighbhour Amren of killing four out of eight street dogs, he had been taking care of since 2019, by giving electric shocks. “Amren has erected high-voltage electric fencing around his house to get rid of animals in a cruel manner and my dogs died after coming in its contact on July 3,” Singh said in his written complaint.
Acting on his complaint, Ekma police registered an FIR against the accused person under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on July 6.
Ekma station house officer (SHO) Uday Kumar said on Tuesday they got the postmortem of the dogs done at the local animal hospital and that further investigation is on.
Cruelty response coordinator of PETA India, Sinchana Subramanyan, said those who abuse animals often show no regard for human life either. “It is imperative that members of the public report cases of cruelty to animals such as this one for the sake of everyone’s safety.”
