BMC to issue show-cause notices to 4 sub-engineers over potholes

Mumbai: In the wake of numerous complaints from citizens regarding potholes on city roads, the BMC on Tuesday said it will issue show-cause notices to four of its sub-engineers for failing to address the problem under their supervision.
Officials said potholes on roads along Jogeshwari Vikrohli Link Road (JVLR) were noticed by senior civic officials and it was decided to proactively issue a notice to the sub-engineer concerned.
Over the past weekend, PM Narendra Modi, who was in Mumbai, was also was seen taking roads along the Western Express Highway where potholes have emerged. “Sub-engineers were appointed especially for ensuring potholes are filled on time, but timely inspection was not done.”
Mandeep Singh Makkar, founder of Chandivli Citizens Welfare Association, said, “Road concretisation work is a sham; potholes are seen even on newly concretised roads.”
