Neighbours foil burglary attempt at retired banker’s house | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Four days after valuables worth Rs 2 lakh were stolen from the house of a retired banker at Saket Vihar under Phulwarisharif police station here, alert residents foiled a burglary bid at the vacant house of another retired banker, Sunil Kumar Sinha, on Sunday night.
According to the residents of Mitra Mandal Colony in Saket Vihar, Sinha, along with his family, was out of town to attend a wedding function.“Around 11pm on Sunday, we spotted three miscreants in their early 20s inside the premises of Sinha’s house. His next-door neighbours had woken up hearing a loud noise of break-in and alerted others. As they started shouting, the burglars fled the place,” said a local resident, adding the local police was informed about the matter.
Expressing serious concern over poor law-and-order situation in the locality, the residents told TOI that the house of another retired banker, Shankar Saran, at Mitra Mandal Colony was burgled on Wednesday night when valuables worth Rs 2 lakh, including CCTV cameras’ DVR, were stolen. Though Phulwarisharif police had lodged an FIR, they were yet to nab the criminals, they said.
According to a local resident, Sumit Saurabh, CCTV camera footage of burglars entering Saran’s house and decamping with the booty were given to the police, but no tangible result was yielded so far, forcing the residents to spend sleepless nights.
When contacted, Phulwari ASP Vikram Sihag said that the police were investigating the matter. While police patrolling would be intensified in the locality, efforts were being made to nab the criminals, he said.
