After 2 rounds of 1st phase of admission, 1.53L UG seats vacant

Bhubaneswar: After completion of second round of Phase-I admission for undergraduate (UG) courses in degree colleges, around 1.53 lakh UG seats offered by degree colleges under the higher education department remained vacant in the state.
So far, around 1.21 lakh students have taken admission out of a total of 2.74 lakh UG seats offered by 1,056 colleges.Two rounds — third and spot selection — of the Phase-I admission process are left. The govt is planning to conduct Phase-II admission in Aug to fill up the seats.
A higher education department official said on Saturday that Phase-I admission will continue until Aug 3. Classes for UG first-year students will start from Aug 1. The second round of admission was conducted between July 6 and July 10. Provisional allotment for the third/final round selection will be published on July 16. Admission for this round will be held between July 18 and July 22.
The merit list of waitlisted candidates will be published on July 31. They will take admission on Aug 2 and Aug 3, and the Phase-I admission will be completed. Though the schedule of Phase-II admission is yet to be declared, it will be notified during the second or third week of Aug, said the official.
Students who have cleared instant/supplementary examinations can apply during Phase-II.
The students who could not apply for Phase-I admission can take part in the second phase, said the guideline of the higher education department.
