NEET paper leak case: CBI custody granted to 13 accused | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: The Patna high court on Friday granted the CBI the custody of 13 people arrested in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak case. The central probe agency will now be able to question these accused in custody and also confront them with kingpin Rocky alias Rakesh Ranjan who was arrested on Thursday.
Justice Sandeep Kumar, presiding over the case, ordered that the accused be handed over to the CBI for a maximum period of 14 days, starting from their transfer date. The order followed a CBI plea challenging a July 2 ruling by the local exclusive magistrate’s court, which had denied the CBI’s request for remand.
Justice Kumar, citing the seriousness of the matter and the interest of justice, stayed the previous order and directed the superintendent of the relevant prisons to transfer the 13 accused to the CBI without delay.
