Opposition Flays Govt Over Incidents Of Bridge Collapse | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: Opposition has hit out at the NDA government in the state over the incidents of dozen bridge collapse in the past three weeks, while JD(U) counter-attacked saying the issue was being politicized and those who themselves are tainted are giving sermons to others.
RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Friday took to social media to lash out at the NDA government for the collapse of bridges.Tejashwi uploaded a short video on his social media account of some of the bridges which have collapsed recently. “In Bihar, not the bridges, rather towers of corruption of 18 years of good governance are falling,” he wrote, adding, “ NDA government has made a world record in terms of corruption and worst governance. In past three weeks, 17 bridges have collapsed.”
Last week his father and party’s national president Lalu Prasad too had sarcastically commented at the government over a series of bridge collapse. A caricature was uploaded on his social media account of such incidents.
Congress legislative party leader Shakil Ahmad Khan demanded a probe into such incidents by agencies from outside the state. “These incidents are example of low quality materials being used in construction risking lives. There is corruption from top to bottom, so who is fit here to investigate,” said Khan, adding, “Agencies which was blacklisted in one project are given work in other ones. Just suspension of engineers will not help. There should be proper inspection and strict action.”
However, JD(U) state spokesperson Anjum Ara hit back at the opposition for politicizing the issue. “They are least concerned about state’s development, all they are doing is politics. The party which was involved in bitumen scam is giving sermons to others. In fact, infrastructure development took off in Bihar only after CM Nitish Kumar formed the government,” alleged Anjum.
