Malaria Spread: Government Directs Health Department to Control Malaria Spread | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: State government has directed the health department to take all necessary measures to control the spread of malaria after cases were reported from five districts this week, with Rayagada reporting over 200 cases.
The direction came on Wednesday after chief secretary Manoj Ahuja conducted a review meeting on the matter. The health department has also been asked to ensure that there is no shortage of medicines and other essential supplies in the affected areas.
Public health director Nilakantha Mishra said, “Malaria cases are under control in the state.A review of vector-borne diseases has been conducted. Our officers have kept a strict vigil on the situation.”
“The government has taken steps to control the spread of the disease by conducting awareness campaigns and distributing mosquito nets to the residents. Health workers are also visiting the affected areas to provide necessary treatment and support to the patients,” a health department official said.
Besides Rayagada where several students in residential schools are undergoing treatment for the vector-borne disease, cases have been reported from Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Malkangiri districts.
