Saudi Arabia: Odisha pilgrims depart for Haj from Kolkata | Bhubaneswar News



Bhubaneswar: Around 311 pilgrims from Odisha left for Haj in Saudi Arabia from Kolkata airport on Tuesday.
This is the first batch of pilgrims from the state and includes three attendants. They are being sent by the govt to facilitate a smooth journey for Haj pilgrims.
“We carry the good wishes of all our near and dear ones on this holy trip. It is my lifelong dream,” said 62-year-old Rasid Khan of Jajpur.
The pilgrims who left from Kolkata are among the 528 from the state who will embark on the annual pilgrimage this year.
J B Tabrez, a Haj committee official camping in Kolkata to facilitate pilgrims’ trips, said another 114 pilgrims from the state would depart from Hyderabad in the second batch scheduled on May 19.
Around 42 pilgrims in the third batch from the state would depart from Bangalore on May 22. TNN
