17-year-old Boy Kidnapped and Forced into Marriage at Gunpoint in Patna | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: A 17-year-old boy was allegedly kidnapped by four unidentified people in the Barh sub-division of Patna and forced to marry a minor girl at gunpoint in a nearby village late Wednesday night.
It was only after the sacred mantras of the marriage were over that the Barh police were able to recover the boy from Phulelpur village under Athmalgola police station around midnight. All the accused involved in the forced marriage, locally known as ‘pakadua vivah’, were absconding.
SHO of Barh police station Manish Kumar said the victim’s mother, Usha Devi, a resident of Kanhaipur in Mokama block, informed the police on Wednesday night that three to four people forcibly dragged her son into an SUV and took him away. “The incident took place around 6.30pm in Barh when the minor boy went out for an evening stroll. Eyewitnesses informed the family members,” he said.
“Instead of informing the police, the boy’s family started searching for him on their own. When they failed to trace him, they informed the police around 10pm on Wednesday,,” Kumar said.
