Bridge collapses in Bihar: 13th mishap in 3 weeks | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: Another bridge collapsed in Bihar on Wednesday, making it the 13th such incident in the state in a span of three weeks, an official said.
The bridge, located on the Sardiha Chowk to Balia-Simar road, collapsed near Kundah village under Mahishi block in Saharsa district, leading to disruption of traffic movement in dozens of villages linked to the road.
A video clip of the latest bridge collapse went viral on different social media platforms.
“It was a small bridge. District officials have left for the spot. We are trying to gather more information about the incident,” additional collector (Saharsa), Jyoti Kumar, told reporters at Saharsa.
Pramod Kumar Sah, a resident of nearby area, told reporters that the road bridge collapsed due to a rise in the level of floodwaters. “The bridge, built in 2005, had turned rickety. However, the officials concerned did not bother to repair it on time,” Sah alleged.
Sah and other villagers also told reporters that there were at least 10 wedding events in the affected villages on Wednesday and Thursday.
