Patna/Begusarai: Five people died on the spot, and three others were seriously injured when the autorickshaw they were travelling in was hit by a car on NH-31 near Bihat Ratan Chowk under the FCI police station area in Begusarai district around 5.30am on Tuesday.
Locals said the accident was so severe that the autorickshaw was completely damaged and extracting three of the deceased required considerable effort.
Begusarai SP Maneesh said the three injured persons were rushed to a nearby superspecialty hospital.
Begusarai Sadar SDPO-2 Bhaskar Ranjan said eight people were in the autorickshaw, five of whom died instantly.
