Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde chairs meeting on quotas | Mumbai News – Times of India
MUMBAI: Chief Minister Mr Eknath Shinde today said that the progressive tradition of Maharashtra will be kept intact.
Assuring that the state government will not permit any injustice on any constituent of the society and to ensure that there shall be no rift between the Maratha and OBC community in the state.
The chief minister appealed to the political parties to convey their opinion and stand on reservation, in writing.
An all- party meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at the Sahyadri guest house. He was speaking on this occasion.
The Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, deputy speaker of state legislative assembly Narhari Jhirwal, Ministers Chandrakant Patil, Radha Krishna Vikhe Patil, Chhagan Bhujbal, Ravindra Chauhan, Shambhuraj Desai, Dadaji Bhuse, Atul Save, Dhananjay Munde and member of parliament Ashok Chauhan, Sunil Tatkare, senior leader advocate Prakash Ambedkar, legislators Pravin Darekar, Gopichand Padalkar, Bacchu Kadu, Bharat Gogavale, Mahadev Jaankar and others were present during the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion and explaining his stand, Chief Minister Mr Eknath Shinde further said that the role of various political parties and organizations regarding the reservation is extremely important and the issue of reservation in the state regarding Maratha and OBC community should be solved by discussion.
The situation of law and order should be smooth and communal harmony should be maintained, he added.
He also said that the government has taken the decision of giving 10 percent reservation to the Maratha community and we are taking all our efforts to ensure that it survives in the framework of the law.
He said that after taking the decision of reservation, the candidates belonging to the Maratha community have been benefited while recruitment for various positions and in the education field.
The Chief Minister reiterated that while providing the sustainable reservation to Maratha community, care will be taken that there is no injustice on other constituents of the society.
The Chief Minister also said that a team of 11 members had been sent to Hyderabad for checking and inspecting the gazette.
He also said that reservation is not a topic of politics but the government is emphasizing to keep intact the social harmony and it is heading ahead with positive intent in this direction.
He said that today’s meeting was called to ensure that a harmonious atmosphere prevails in the state and with the prime objective to find a solution through discussion and taking the members of all parties into confidence.
He said that this meeting also intended to find a solution on the rift between Maratha and OBC community, adding that earlier on November 1, 2023, a similar type of all party meeting was held.
