NHAI: NSUI complaint against NHAI for road cave-in | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: NSUI on Tuesday filed a complaint at Khandagiri police station against National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the contractor concerned after a portion of NH-16 caved in and a mini-truck got stuck near Dumduma.
Citing poor quality of work that could pose a serious life threat to commuters, the NSUI demanded strict action against the contractor responsible for construction.NSUI state president Yasir Nawaz said it was a narrow escape for the driver of the mini-truck.
He said the highway runs right through the heart of the city and is a lifeline for many and such low quality of work poses a great danger for commuters. “The portion of the highway was opened for vehicular movement just six months back and such condition of the road reveals poor construction and corruption,” Nawaz alleged.
NSUI also blamed Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi for the poor condition of NH-16 alleging that she was protecting the contractor and associated people. It also criticised Sarangi for not reacting on the issue.
